The PrimePay Referral Program FAQs


How does the PrimePay referral program work?

Here's a brief rundown:

  1. A PrimePay client or advisor partners (see full eligibility requirements below) registers to begin submitting their referrals at refer.primepay.com. We also refer to referring participants as advocates.
  2. These advocates will begin gathering referrals through social networks, in person networking, or by entering their friend's information into the system.
  3. Our team will reach out to the referred business owner.
  4. If the referral becomes a PrimePay payroll client, the advocate will be paid via Tango Card*.
    • *Reward payments are issued 45 days after the referral becomes a PrimePay client.

Who is eligible?

PrimePay clients and advisor partners, that’s who!

Please note: Advisor partners are defined as CPAs, financial advisors and banks. Benefits brokers, Broker Concierge partners, and PrimePay employees are not eligible to participate.

Referral leads can be submitted by anyone at a company that uses a PrimePay service, with the exception of any PrimePay employees and anyone younger than 18 years old.

What is a valid referral?

A referral is defined as a named contact with company affiliation and contact information determined solely by PrimePay as having an interest in purchasing payroll.

In order to earn the referral bonus, the referral must start payroll with PrimePay and remain a client for 45 days.

How much do I earn for each referral?

As of May 1, 2018, our new reward payout scale has been launched! Earn up to $600 for your first three referrals. Here's how it works:

  1. First valid referral, you earn a $100 Tango Card.
  2. Second valid referral, you earn a $200 Tango Card.
  3. Third valid referral, you earn a $300 Tango Card.

Every fourth referral, the reward scale will reset back to the $100 e-gift card. So, for example, a fourth referral will earn $100, a fifth $200, a sixth $300, a seventh $100, and so on. But don't let that discourage you! There's no limit to how much you can earn.

Additionally, on Jan 1. 2018, all rewards will be reset to $100 - no matter which referral level you're at. Be sure to get in all of your valid, completed referrals by Dec. 2018 so you don't miss out!

Do I have to be a PrimePay customer to make referrals?

Not necessarily. The PrimePay Referral Program is open to cleints and advisor partner.

What if my referral does not become a PrimePay customer?

Rewards are only issued for referrals that result in a sale of PrimePay’s payroll products. Referrals that do not become customers are not eligible for Tango Card payments.

What if my referral is already in contact with the PrimePay sales team?

Qualifying referrals must be an introduction to an account that is not actively engaged with PrimePay.

Do I need to know the person I am referring?

While it is not a strict requirement, as a professional courtesy, PrimePay highly recommends that you know the person you refer to PrimePay and that you confirm with that person that it's fine for PrimePay to contact them.

What is Tango Card?

A Tango Card is an e-gift card that can be redeemed for a variety of retail gift cards. Or, you could also donate your Tango Card to charity. Click here for a deeper explanation.
